Eccentric training: rehabilitation and prevention

COMPARTE VÍA

About eccentric training and prevention and rehabilitation of injuries, Joaquin Calatayud (researcher and doctor in Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport) and Jose Casaña (Professor and Doctor of Physiotherapy) wrote this text. Many injuries happen during the eccentric phase of the exercise or in the transition between the eccentric and concentric phase.

For years eccentric training has been considered a priority in the protocols for tendinopathies. However, the HSR (Slow Heavy Resistance) that combines concentric and eccentric work is giving good results. There is evidence of the benefits of physical exercise to treat tendinopathies and the positive effect has been observed on those exercises that use the concentric and eccentric phases and gradually increase loads.

Importance of eccentric training

There is clear evidence about the power of eccentric training in muscles injuries prevention, Petersen et al. (2011) or Arnason et al. (2008).
Nowadays we still don’t pay enough attention on this kind of training (BJSM, Bahr et lends alii, 2015). The most complete device for eccentric training is EPTE® Inertial Concept. This device, is also designed to improve physical performance, prevention, rehabilitation and treatment of injuries. With EPTE® Inertial Concept you can generate eccentric overloads anywhere in the body.

If you found this article about eccentric training interesting, you can find the whole versione in the blog of EPTE® Inertial, where you can also find more interesting material about physical exercise, inertial training..
